Detox Fasting
Detoxification is a process of elimination harmful toxins and unwanted chemicals in the body. When you talk about detoxification, you will never miss the word “fasting”. Fasting is one of the basic process of detoxification. In history it was associated with a form of sacrifice that is done by people in the hope to be closer to God. However, in recent times, fasting has been proven to generate a lot of healthy benefits.
Detox fasting is a process of complete abstinence from all kinds of food or substance except pure water. It is believed to be very beneficial to the body as it provides the body with total rest. Although there is natural detoxification happening in our body, it needs to get a breather from the regular work it is doing. This type of intentional and conscious detoxification is an effective way to lend our system a hand.
Most of the toxins and harmful chemicals that enter the body are stored in the fat tissues that are accumulated due to poor diet and lack of exercise. Because there is no way to use these reserves, the toxins and fats keep on piling up in our body. These in turn prevents the internal organ from functioning well. When a person undergoes the detox fasting program only liquid enters the body. Since there is nothing to digest, the body starts to get other sources for energy and thus convert the fat tissues into energy. The body gets a chance to use up stored fats that is blocking the normal operations of our system. The bad chemicals and stored toxins beneath our fat tissues are then eliminated through the normal detox process. Another benefit of detox fasting is the rapid weight loss. During fasting, the organs tend to go back into their normal size and thus results to feel satisfied even with less food. Added to the many benefits of detox fasting is that it triggers the healing process. During fasting the energy is diverted from the digestive system and channeled to the immune system and metabolism. This is the reason why even during fasting, you are not likely to feel very hungry.
It is important to get your physician’s advice before undergoing any form of detoxification. Otherwise, your efforts might just go waste.
